You Tube Friday: Fitz and the Tantrums

I just caught myself googling "Spring" images.  Not good seeing as we have two more months of winter to go!  I am hoping to get outside a little bit this weekend, but after this hectic work week part of me wants to just spend a whole day in my pjs and recharge my batteries.  I think my newly recovered couch will finally arrive tomorrow...fingers crossed!  I chose a very Spring-y green fabric and I can't wait to share it with you.  What will you be doing this weekend?  Are you stuck in snow or enjoying nice weather?  Get geared up for the give-away next week!

Oh, and just try to not dance to this one...if you succeed you have more self control than I do.  I'm going to petition them to let me be an honorary "tantrum."

And a VERY HAPPY BIRTHDAY to one of my oldest and dearest friends, AE!!!

Feature: BHLDN

So today my friend C clued me into Anthropologie's new wedding line BHLDN.  It's POV on the whole bride thing will be everything we love about Anthropologie's quirky style that celebrates our uniqueness...but with a nuptial flair.  While I'm pretty certain wedding bells aren't in my immediate future, I'm excited to see what they judiciously debut on Feb. 14th.  Right now they are just giving us tantalizing glimpses on their website, and rumor has it that later this year they will round out the collection with wedding decor accessories.

Are you as excited to see this as I am?

Hey...

Dudes and mostly dudettes, I just got back from a non-stop day of Power Point slides and my eyes/whole body hurt.  That sentence just reminded me of the TV show "Hey Dude" anyone else remember that?  No?  I'm the only one who had a crush on Ted and wanted to be Brad(who is a girl despite the name confusion)?  At this hour, I'm ok with that.  I'm also ok with the fact that I will wake up tomorrow morning and wonder "what in the heck did I blog about last night?" and then frantically look at this and hope you don't notice how weird it is.

Whatevs.

The important thing is we reached 100+ followers, which means its time for a giveaway!  Thanks to all of the new people reading who pushed it over the top, and many thanks to those of you who have been around the block with me a time or two.

Now I'm off to bed to dream up a crazy awesome giveaway prize.  TBA.

Feature: Gold Bow Ring

Need a pretty little reminder for something?  Loving this Reminder Bow Ring.  It would look so delicate and pretty on your finger!

Bitten by the Flea Market

I don't know how I didn't end up getting anything.  The cold temperatures must have frozen my wallet shut.  I did document all of the objects that I found interesting to share with you so it's kind of like we went to the flea market together.  What would you have made me buy saying that I would be crazy to pass it up?

Loved this weathered light blue mirror...can you see Lewis in his sweater in the reflection?

Pair of velveteen covered chairs.

Really wanted to take home these hobnail milk glass lamps!  Put a cute shade on....mmm

Pretty door knocker.

Little elephant statue.

Unique camel, curious how to work that one into a home.  Like it.

This guy had a cart full of cast iron treasures.

I liked the shape but wasn't crazy about the upholstery choice.

Love the shape of this lamp.

Pair of sleeping lions.  That's what he said.

Interesting chest of drawers.

Weekender: Shirts + Sandwiches + Succulents

We wore the same shirt...on the same day...and didn't plan it.  If you are looking for ways to be cool, this isn't it.  In fact, I'm told this hasn't been cool to do since elementary school.

Not sure what Lewis expects the frog to turn into when he kisses it.

Unfortunately for Lewis it wasn't a real frog, just a plastic one that sits outside my back door.

Re-potted some succulents in a thrifted ceramic container!

Here again I am a little late with the weekend snapshots, I chose to wait until the last minute to put together some presentations for my meetings in Florence, SC this week.  I keep telling myself that this will be the week that I do everything DAYS before it needs to be done, but somehow it always comes down to the last minute.  Do you do that?  Procrastinate even when you tell yourself this will be the time where you are super prepared?  I do.  All the time.  Bad Evie.

Self scolding aside, I did manage to accomplish a few things this weekend that I had set out for myself.  I got some new kicks which were about 25% off, and if you are in the market for a new pair of tennis shoes let me tell you that everywhere I looked this weekend had them on sale.  Go forth and save my athletically inclined friends.

A and I also froze our buns off walking around the State Fairgrounds at the flea market looking for treasures.  He's a trooper that one.  I will be sharing my finds tomorrow and have a few things planned for while I'm away for my day job!

You Tube Friday: Pumped Up

Happy Friday everyone, sorry I'm a little late with this post, but sometimes that whole job thing keeps me busy.  I have come to the realization today that I need new tennis shoes so I will probably be on the hunt for a good bargain pair this weekend.  I have actually needed to replace my tennis shoes for a while now since they take a good pounding when I run, but what has finally forced my hand into throwing down the cash for a new pair is the fact that I stepped in dog doo-doo on my afternoon walk today.  Not. Good.  Or pleasing to the nose for that matter.  I have placed the footwear in question on my front step, hoping that the doo-doo getter off-er fairy will visit them over night and when I open my door in the morning they will be magically clean and maybe even have a little wrapped chocolate candy inside of them like a hotel turn-down service.  Is this too much to hope for?  Crazier things have happened....

On the upside, I am hoping to get a little bit of antique shopping in this weekend.  A and I both have our ONE thing that we would like to do this weekend, his is watch the NFL game on Sunday, and mine is to visit the fair grounds and hunt for unique objects.  Not sure exactly what kind of objects, just so long as they are unique.  Luckily we can do both of these things this weekend without any danger of overlap. Oh, and now I have to add the tennis shoes to my "need to accomplish" list, obviously, but still no overlap so that is good.

And (and I promise this is the last thing in this little novel I have written you this Friday), A and I are in a race....a race to LOSE 10 POUNDS.  We have both put on a little bit of holiday/relationship weight and we want to take it off.  We have a month.  Loser pays for a hotel room for one night in Wilmington, NC where we will both get rewarded with dinner at our favorite Thai place for the losing weight efforts (contradictory right?).  I am NOT going to lose.  Send your skinny thoughts/helpful tips my way.

Catch you on the flip side friends, and now for YouTube Friday, all my favorite pump up/workout songs to get me in the workout mood:

I get a workout just watching this.  Oh Beyonce...get it girl.

Must have work out jam. Have you seen JLo on Am. Idol?  Thoughts?

It doesn't hurt that during a workout she is spelling out my name.  Reminds me to work extra hard.

Every Day I'm Hustlin'...

...and entering to win the HGTV 2011 dream home.  What?  I can't dream about the dream home?  That's just crazy.  Go enter to win, you can enter twice daily until Feb. 18th.  And if you win, I'm coming to visit...for a month.

Post-College Working Girl Turns 1.

It's officially my bloggiversary.  I started out not knowing exactly where this blog would take me, but I have to say it has surpassed all of my expectations, and that is because of you.  I have found people that I wouldn't hesitate to call my friends, y'all are the best at making me feel good with your sweet comments.  Alright, sappy isn't my thing, but thank you for reading, all of my almost 100 followers (if you want to go tell 4 of your lady friends to come join the party and get us to 100 followers, I totally wouldn't mind)!  Let's celebrate and look at pictures of cake.

PS....There will be a giveaway celebration when the blog reaches 100 followers :)...ok...ok...getting to the cake.

And if I could have one of Paul Ferney's paintings of cake I would love it every day.

Let's-Go-a-ebaying...

All I want to do tonight is snuggle up with Lewis, watch my basketball team, and search for things I want on ebay.   Lately I have been typing in the term "hollywood regency" with alarming frequency and seeing where the eBay gods take me.  The term refers to a decor style from the 30's where decorators like Dorothy Draper and William Haines decorated Hollywood Mansions with glamour and definitively glitzy overtones.  Think bamboo, geometric shapes, gold, brass, mirrors, and lacquered...everything.  To me there are few other styles that have such a distinctive look.  It's making a modern comeback, and this girl couldn't be happier.  Come, share in my ebay adventure.

Thrifted: Geisha Needlepoint Pillow

Feast your eyes....just not upon that upholstery.

Behold one of my thrift store finds from the family Thanksgiving vacay in Florida that I didn't share with y'all.   Now before you get upset with my non-disclosure, let me say that I had bigger, better plans for this framed needlepoint geisha.

I love needlepoint, I think it is a hobby that I would like to pick up.  Needlepoint pillows hold a special fascination for me, they have a vintage feel that I adore.  Things I don't love:  framed needlepoint works and the price of needlepoint pillows.

Thus a solution was born....

I popped that sucker right out of it's frame, added some backing, stuffed it, and threw on some trim.  My $7 needlepoint pillow makes me feel like painting my face and learning the fine art of geisha tea service with my spare money.

Now I will forever be on the lookout for framed needlepoint work!

Here are some other needlepoint pillows for sale that I like!

Hands Down....

...my favorite look of last night.  Good for you Emma Stone.

Weekender: Hornets + Hanza + Hoarders

Somehow I managed to hardly take any photos this weekend, but if I did they would include snapshots of seeing The Green Hornet in 3D, late night drinks and talk in the Wild Turkey Lounge with A where our bartenders name was Hanza, and a whole lot of obsessing over the television show Animal Hoarders.  I know I'm in the grips of Mad Men...but Animal Hoarders is a totally different ball of wax here, I mean, I can practically smell these peoples houses through the television.  I knocked out a project in the kitchen which I will share shortly!  Hope that you had a lovely weekend.  I know it's only mid January, but is it spring yet?

You Tube Friday: The Grass Roots

Sha la la la la la la live for today and don't worry about tomorrow.... those are my plans this weekend...oh and maybe see Green Lantern with A.  Music inspired by my new found love of the 60's a la Mad Men, did I mention I was addicted?  Do you want to send me the 2nd season?  Happy Friday friends, catch you on the flip side.  Next week I'll share some needlepoint goodness!

Thrifted: Black and White Plaid

Got this shirt for $2 at the thrift store.

I was looking for a piece like this to add to my wardrobe, and I actually wasn't looking for it in thrift stores, but when you see something good you have to go for it.

A well-fitting button down plaid shirt is a staple that every woman should have in her wardrobe.

I like to style mine retro, like Audrey Hepburn.

Or Betty Draper, which PS I have started watching Mad Men and I can't get enough....I am in the clutches of addiction.
