Twitty...
No, not Conway Twitty, the late great country star seen above (I'm sure that is what popped into your mind right), but rather Twitty as in I joined Twitter, as in if you say really clever things on there then you could be called Twitty (see how I make bad puns, this could be bad). I would like to say that this crazy social networking fanatic who had one too many facebook friend requests denied, snapped and forced me at gunpoint to join Twitter with him OR ELSE. Truth is I was just curious, and now plain old fascinated. I have no clue what I'm doing, but I would be more than honored if you would come tweet me up, or whatever, and follow along with the random thoughts pop into my brain. I apologize in advance, for my mind is a crazy place, but you know this already, case in point, who starts out a post with Conway Twitty?
Right, so there is now a new little twitter widget on the right there. Come follow me down the rabbit hole! I'm @EvieBDixon.
Weekender: Daffodils + Chickens + Cherry Blossoms
Photos from the weekend come mostly from a little walk that Lewis and I took down to the neighborhood pizza joint, Lilly's Pizza. It has maybe the best side salad ever, look at all of those goodies on there. We wandered a little bit and found a house that had some yard chickens, which fascinated Lewis to no end, but the chickens seemed bored with us. Also, daffodils and spring blossoms abound. Other moments of my weekend included a massive hangover and thrifting with my friend C and my mom and godmother. Back to the grind. It will be an early morning tomorrow.

You Tube Friday: Monsters of Folk
This is an exciting weekend. I was asked to do my first guest post about my transition from college to a career over at A Life So Lovely. Check it out to read about my thoughts on life then and now!
That's me on the right on graduation day almost 4 years ago!
Also this weekend my parents are coming to visit! Hopefully I can spend some time with them and maybe convince them that they want to go to a storage unit auction with me? Has anyone ever been to one of those? It has peaked my curiosity, but then again curiosity killed the cat or some jazz like that, so I'm hesitant to go by myself.
A weekend tune for you from the Monsters of Folk. Makes me want to gather all of my friends for a massive roller skating party.
Feature: Trader Joe's Veggie Masala Burger
Tonight I tried the Vegetable Masala Burger from Trader Joes and it was phenomenal. So flavorful, and not like those other veggie burgers that try to front like they are a burger. This one is made with potatoes, carrots, and indian spices that pack a really nice punch. I didn't like veggie burgers....until now.
Also picked up some of these while at TJ's, because who can resist little, tiny sunshines?

Etsy: Vintage Dresses
I just caught myself searching Etsy for vintage dresses. I thought I would share some of my faves and what I would wear them to if they were in my clutches....muahahaha. I don't know, the evil laugh just seemed appropriate.
Rehearsal dinner for a spring wedding. Love the straps on this one.
Fits: Sm/Med
$32
I would wear this strappy 60's sundress with a cardigan to brunch or for a day of shopping. I could totally see Anthropologie selling this dress.
Size: Bust 34" Waist 26" Hips Free
$52
60's/70's Boho Batik dress. It's long skirt makes it perfect for a sunny picnic after a trip to the farmer's market!
Size: Bust 35" Waist 27.5" Hips Open to 48.5"
$43
I had to show the detail on the bottom of this 60's cotton pique day shift because I think it is fabulous. The dress looks like it might be a little big on the model, but I would wear this one to a hot football game because it is my college team's colors. That would be UNC if you were trying to figure it out!
Size: Large
$52
How cute and springy is this 60's printed silk blend dress? I would wear it to a luncheon or outdoor wedding.
Size: M/L
$68
I think this 80's Silk Print Dana Buchman Shirtwaist Dress is hella hot. I would throw on a long strand of pearls, some black pumps, and head out to the bar in this one. Added bonus would be to fake smoke a cigarette from one of those long stick thingies. Also, bright red lips. Yes, I love it.
Size: 14
$38
Maybe it's because she is wearing a beret, but this one screams, take me to Paris! 60's Criss Cross Mod Dolly Mini Dress.
Size: S/M
$38
I can't help but smile at this 60's/70's long flowing chiffon gown. I would throw a belt around the middle and wear it to a barbecue on a hot summer night!
Size: 10/12
$135
What do you think of wearing vintage?

Before and After: Pink Living Room
Reviews of the most recent issue of House Beautiful have been circling the blogosphere for a while now, and not to re-hash the hash, but I was psyched about this latest one. I happened to choose Martha Stewart's pale pink "Ballet Slipper" to blush up my walls when I moved into my new place back in October. I have a long way to go before I reach the levels of the rooms in HB:
Love the black and brown accents which bring this airy pink down to earth.
This one is my favorite, partly because they rock the pink velvet chair with the pink on their walls like I do, but that table and the accents of yellow are perfection. I also really admire the collection of art work on the wall.
Subtle pink and subtle green. Lilly Pulitzer would be proud.
Like I said, I have a long way to go before I can be there, but here are some snippets from my pale pink living room. Side Note: My walls want you to know that they were pink way before HB made it cool to be so. Alright...
THE BEFORE:
THE AFTER:
couch makeover HERE
thrifted chair story HERE
I haven't regretted painting my walls pink once, but I can understand how it's not for everyone. I grew up loving pink, and my parents try to tell me that it's the only color I wore in pre-school, so much so that everyone called me "Evie Pink Girl." I had my phases of rebellion where I wouldn't go near the shade, but I have come full circle and am and always will be a pink girl.
PS. Would you believe that most of the things in my living room came from a thrift store?

Feature: Bra Sizes....No Really....
I'm going to share a little something personal with you, my readers, and that is my bra size. Yes, my bra size. I thought about it and well, there is really no hiding something like this, you have eyes, if you wanted to, not that you would want to, but if you did you could make an educated guess. So...I am a 36 D. There you have it. It's out in the open.
Alright, there is a point to this, and it is that hopefully you will take my experience here, no matter what your bra size, and let it give you some food for thought. For the longest time, and I mean the LONGEST time, like since high school, I was wearing a 36 C. In an Oprah-esque moment I actually decided to let the ladies at the local department store do a bra fitting for me. I'm not a huge fan of having this sort of thing done. I don't like strange women(or strange men, wait lets be real, even not strange men with the exception of one lucky guy) touching around my boob-al area . However, once they took their groping measuring tape and did their thing, I was shocked to learn I was wearing the wrong size, and proceeded to buy my first correctly fitting bra. Let it be stated that I rarely buy new bras, it is an expense that I truly begrudge.
Ladies, the epiphany does not end there. Today I went to purchase a new sports bra after a recent jog left me feeling like there was a little too much jiggle with my wiggle. I told the sales lady at the running store that I was there to purchase a new sports bra, adding, "The most supportive one you have." She proceeded to ask me if I had ever been fitted for a sports bra. "Yes," I said "I was just fitted over at Belk's and I'm a 36 D." I felt smug, "Of course I'm the type of girl who gets a regular bra fitting, how dare she question me." She gave me a polite smile and proceeded to say "Yes, but have you been fit for a sports bra?" WHAT? Are they not one in the same? Is she going to take her prodding tape measurer and make me raise my arms straight out so she can wrap it around my bust, and then go underneath and wrap it around my rib cage casually grazing my under boob? I shuddered. NO way, I'd had enough. She must have read my thoughts, or the look of horror on my face, when she suggested that this sort of fitting merely required me to try the sports bras on in different brands and sizes, letting her see how they fit, and then going from there. I had just had a big lunch and I wasn't exactly keen on letting her see me in just jeans and a sports bra, but hey, I am a woman of compromise, so I agreed.
I triumphantly came home with two new sports bras. Made by Moving Comfort, and in a size 36 DD. Yeah, up a whole cup size (I swear if these things get any bigger I will cut them off like the Amazon women did, ok maybe not that drastic, but come on God, a little help here). I went for a run today. Suffice it to say, all of the fitting torture was...worth it. Go forth friends, and learn from my lesson. Or have you already had an experience like that? Please share.

Weekender: Picnic + Cartwheels + Pizza
I'm really sad this long, warm weekend is over. A and I went on a picnic on Sunday that was the stuff of wonder, taking our shoes off and lounging on a blanket in the middle of a sun-drenched, grassy lawn. While we picked up a pizza instead of packing your traditional picnic fare, it was none-the-less yummy. It was so beautiful that I was moved to do cartwheels which thoroughly confused my dog, Lewis, in the process. Starting to get jealous of my day? Don't. It started off with a hangover of massive proportions from a night out on Saturday to celebrate the fact that I was no longer on anti-biotics. Oh well, you can't have it all. In other news I have spotted cherry trees flowering and crocuses blooming. The first brave soldiers ushering in the coming season. Here are some snapshots from my weekend:
oh yeah, look at that form.

You Tube Friday: Langhorne Slim
Oh my gracious is it pretty outside! Near 80's in the smack dab middle of February? What? There will be long walks and sitting in my rocking chair which I just set up outside of my place. Also, time to catch up on the huge pile of magazines that I have. The best thing happened earlier today though, when a colleague of mine reminded me that we have Monday off. Yessssss. Just what I needed. And somehow the fact that I completely forgot about it and then was surprised with the reminder made it one hundred times better, funny how that works. What are your plans?
I love this song, and I was going to post it last week but it seemed sort of inappropro for Valentine's Day weekend. No doubt this will be playing while in my rocking chair with my mags...
Oh yeah, Seth Avett from the Avett Brothers gets in on this action too...

Every Now and Again I Get Really Excited.
So, so excited to see this book come to life. It has Christoph Waltz in it (the bad guy from Inglorious Basterds and The Green Hornet), who might be the most perfect fit for a character in a movie portrayal that I have ever seen. It is just like I imagined that character in my head when I read the book. It comes out on my birthday (April 22nd) this year...I think I know what I want to do that night! Have you read the book?
Thrifted: Brass and Glass Faux Bamboo Table
Found this brass and glass table at a thrift store for $12.
I really liked the faux bamboo detail on the legs and placed it next to a chair in my office.
Here is the thing about thifting for me: I don't do it just because it is an inexpensive way to get items, that's part of it certainly, but I do it to get unique one of a kind items that catch my attention. I have learned this, if it speaks to you, get it. The best thing is to surround yourself with things that make you happy and not what you think is the latest trend. If you end up with things that you love they will somehow all come together and create a space where you can be comfortable and that you can enjoy living in.
My table reminds me of this:
