YouTube Friday: Kid Cudi

Sorry for the lack of an actual vid...but this song is so great it was worth sharing.  This weekend looks like it's going to be a scorcher...I want to do a whole bunch of nothing...maybe swim, but other than that I want to hibernate in my cold apartment.  Ok, I'll probably venture to the outside world, but no guarantees.

What are your plans this weekend?

Oh PS...check out Boddrick's Roost where blogger Mary Mac answers my question on where to purchase acrylic blocks to stack lamps on.  Add it to the list of things you NEED to know!

Where would we be without acrylic?  Or Foo Dogs for that matter.

So glad I can now source some acrylic for myself!

Have a great weekend every body!

Before and After: Thrifted Elephant Table

I made a pit stop into a Goodwill today, not looking for anything in particular, just wanted to sniff out any general fabulousness.  Then I saw it, then I loved it, and then I knew that I had to have it.

I have actually seen quite a few of these floating around the blog and design world.  Like this one here from Erin the Richmond Thrifter.

A little Krylon spray paint was desired, and now the elephant is living comfortably next to my sofa.

This sort of table can be purchased at many designer shops...but the prices are usually outrageous.

Rest assured knowing that I got a BARGAIN.  Like the lady in front of me in line at the G-Dub said, "it is just raining deals here."  Too true lady, too true.

Linking up at Savvy Southern Style!

Yellow Pondering

This weekend I got a little restless, as I tend to do, and picked up a paint brush and re-painted my kitchen cabinets white.  You may remember that they had been painted with chalkboard paint, and honestly I just got tired of that dark color on there.  However, I did decide that I wanted to bring in an accent color for my yellow kitchen and was thinking about grey.  A few rooms to ponder:

I love the combo, but I didn't see it used in many kitchens.  What do you think of the yellow/grey look?

Splurge Urge: Donut Art

$190

I think having a painted box of these in my kitchen would be better than having a real box of them...for my waist line that is.

New In CURATE

$22.50

New in the shop.

Did you ever ride horses?  Do you ride horses?

I used to when I was a little girl.  I rode at summer camp and then every now and again we would go out to my dad's family's farm where there was a whole stable full of horses.  I got to ride one specific horse, she was an Arabian horse named Makima.  Those were fine times.

Weekender: Tomatoes + Calling Cards + Flea Marketing

I grew that tomato and it tasted delicious with some basil from my garden on a piece of French baguette. My measly little tomato plant decided that it DID want to live after we had a little pep talk about how the heat really wasn't a good excuse for it not to produce some kind of edible thing.

It was actually beautiful this weekend with the temps staying in only the upper 80's.  I also treated myself to a massage and that was heavenly and much deserved after a long week.  Went to the flea market and haggled for some deals.  Drank coffee.

Oh, and I got these in the mail!!

My big girl official calling cards!!  From pixelimpress, whom I highly recommend, she was fast and they turned out just the way I wanted!  Now to find people to hand them out to...

How was your weekend?

YouTube Friday: Jason Aldean

Alright alright alright.  SO my friends and I are obsessed with this song this summer, and when I heard this Luda remix I had to share.  No video, but whatever, it's the weekend so I know you'll forgive.

Now for a little something new.  I haven't had as much time lately to catch up on my favorite blogs so I was browsing through a lot of stuff today and found so much inspiration that I thought I would do a little mini-roundup on Fridays.  You like?

A post about some wonderful artwork

How do you feel about riding a bike in a skirt?

An amazing green wall in Paris.

An delicious sounding recipe for stuffed jalapeno grilled cheese.

Caffeinated popsicles?  Yes and yes.

Have a wonderful weekend everyone!

People Who Are Talking About It.

A big thanks to Lynda over at gratefulevermore who shared her love of her vintage elephant that she purchased at my Etsy shop CURATE.

Thanks Lynda!

Don't worry, there will be more elephants in the future.  You have spoken of your love for them, and I hear you!

Girl Has Skillz

Have y'all seen this?  I was introduced to this by one of my friends this past weekend.  We spent the next 30 minutes watching this girl's covers.  She is unreal!  I guess she discovered her talent for rapping and then starting covering all sorts of songs.  Oh, and the guy playing keyboard is her fiance!

Call Me

I decided the other day that I need a little business card action to go along with the new shop.  Honestly, I had thought about getting some sort of calling card way before the shop, but could never justify pulling the trigger...I'm frugal if nothing else!  So I searched around the Etsy world to find something stylish but practical, and I'm excited to reveal the final product as soon as it arrives!  I thought that I would share some of the cute runner-ups in case you have ever considered getting something along these lines for your blog, shop, or whatever.  Apparently there is such a thing as a "mommy calling card," which states your name, who your kids are, and a number to call for play dates.  Mom readers out there, is this something that you have?  I can't remember ever seeing these growing up and I'm curious, is this something people do now?!!

Alright, on to the cards...

200 for $60

100 for $28

250 for $76

100 for $55

60 for $25

So tell me, do you calling card?

And I have decided that Emersonmade reads my mind...I said just the other day that I needed more caftans in my life.

Thinking this will be my banner.

What should I call the shop?  Ideas welcome!

A few things I have listed so far...

$80

$15

More to come, but I would love it if you would go check out my yet to be named shop and tell your friends!
