As many of y'all may know, I'm a southerner by birth right, but what might come as a surprise is that I spent 5 of my formative years, the majority of which were in high school, living in Chicago, IL. Yes, it's freezing there, but generally a really cool place to live. Anyways, I opened up the latest copy of
Lonny Magazine, and there
on the cover was a friend of mine, Anna Burke, from my high school in Chicago. She is an assistant to designer Celerie Kemble and she has a kick ass apartment in New York. Let's browse shall we?
Yes she was this pretty in high school too...
On the left is an And Warhol print and a Bob Collins & Sons wall paper which has so much great color going on it's fantastic. Even better the adjacent wall and floors are completely white which really makes this wall stand out. The couch came from her grandparents beach house...lucky duck.
Ok, so this reaffirms my deep belief that I need a fiddle leaf fig tree all up in my apartment. Also, this makes me sad that I have not found such an awesome coffee table and that I passed up these things for $5 at Goodwill yesterday....
Sigh.
Anna's use of color mixed with neutrals and variety of textures and materials really makes for a fantastic looking apartment and a great spread in Lonny. I facebook messaged her telling her as much even though I don't think we've spoken since graduation a decade a couple of years ago.
If anyone in the Richmond area is interested in finding a vintage African headdress like the one seen in Anna's apartment let me know and I'll tell you where several are located!
What do you think of this space and the vintage and thrifted goodies in it?
